Life journey work
All children in Wales who are unable to be cared for by their birth families need to understand their family history and their unique life journey.
Life Journey Work is undertaken to support a child’s identity and sense of belonging. It promotes self-esteem and wellbeing by providing:
- An opportunity to preserve important factual and age-appropriate information about family history and circumstance
- A way to preserve memories as children grow older and start to ask more questions
- A structure to explore emotions and talk about painful issues
The NAS Framework includes a suite of resources for everyone involved in a child’s care – from foster carers and adopters to professionals and birth parents – to help a child make sense of their past and understand their current situation to help them thrive as they grow.
Select the option that best describes you to find the right Life Journey resource for you.
